Cyclops (Marvel Legends (Toy Biz)) Review
Cyclops
Marvel Legends (Toy Biz) (Toy Biz)I like the 90's version of the X-Men, probably because I grew up watching the cartoons. I liked how their suits looked like something people would actually wear and not something so outlandish or bland like before. Cyclops was a great, but now a lot of people seem to consider him as a whiny spoiled brat. Where is this coming from? Did the X-Men movies bring this on? I don't know, but I don't hear people talking about Cyclops nearly as much. It's always Wolverine this, and Wolverine that, and that's fine, but what's the point in having an X-Men team if you're just going to focus on one guy?

Cyclops gives the impression of being short because of those large boot-cuffs, but he actually stands 6 1/4 inches tall. He wears the older X-men suit, a simple blue with yellow trim. The mask, gloves, and boots are well detailed with wrinkles and seams. His hands are sculpted so they look natural when he puts them up to his visor to shoot. The muscle isn't exaggerated, which is always good, he has a medium-build. The visor is painted a golden yellow with a red lens. It would have been nice if he was given the same crystal-eyes feature as the LOTDK Scarecrow. Cyclops has shading overkill. I mean, it's nice to have shading but he has so much that it just makes him look dirty, like he was just dragged through the mud. The gloves and boots are especially "dirty". There is a little hole in his back to stick in the clear base/stand all Series 10 figures have. His face is funny. If you look at it from the front, he looks like he's sad, if you look at it from a higher angle, he looks like he's smiling. Happy, sad, happy, sad, happy, sad, oh the joy of action figures.

No problems with articulation here. He doesn't have a mid-torso joint, but he looks better without one. The neck is a ball-joint, the shoulders are swivel-hinged, arms swivel, elbows are double-hinged, gloves swivel, wrists are hinged, and so are the fingers. Waist is swiveled, hips are swivel-hinged, legs are swiveled, knees are double-hinged, boots swivel, ankles are hinged and rocking, and the boot-tips are hinged. I count about 36 POA.

The 90's version of Cyclops was also made, but for the new X-Men line, not the Marvel Legends. He's damn hard to come by and usually sells for 20-30 dollars. He is kinda scrawny though, this ML Cyclops is much cheaper and has a much better build.

Yeah, they haven''t made a Cyclops I like yet, I might have to settle for a Movie Cyclops and repaint it.
I think the Sentinel piece that comes with the Cyclops sort-of makes-up for the 20 dollars, the Sentinel is pretty cool if you can assemble it.

Yeah, the head moves fine, it can face in almost any direction. He doesn''t have the mid-section hinge though, like the Namor, because it''s the same body.
Well, I wouldn''t pay 20 bucks for it but that''s just because I don''t like this suit :P

this figure looks great! he''s at my local comic store for a pricey 20 dollars though... is he worth it? and is his head more articulated than the sup mariner figure? his head could hardly move at all, and cyclops really needs head articulation.
