Bronx (Gargoyles (Neca)) Review
Bronx
Gargoyles (Neca) (Neca)After being able to finally find Demona last month, it was only a matter of time before I would get Bronx. Like her, he was found at retail over an hour away from my house, and I guess whatever problem NECA Turtles had over a year ago getting stocked in MD must be affecting Gargoyles now. Still, nice to finally have found him, so let's take a look at how good the figure itself is.

Bronx's packaging is the same size as Demona's, and it has a nice illustration to go along with it. For some reason, NECA used both twist ties and plastic ties to hold in the figure and whatnot, but I didn't have any difficulty removing them.

As opposed to the previous figures, Bronx is a quadruped, as he's to other gargoyles what dogs are to humans, and he's a bit smaller as well, standing around 4" tall and 5" long. Djordje Djokovic handles the sculpting again, and he does a nice job taking the beast's on-screen appearance and adding some extra details to it. The paint's nice as well, with the pastel blue skin blending with the lighter shades near perfectly. For some reason, they chose to have Bronx's torso be a soft plastic layer over harder material. I'm not sure if there's any articulation under it, but whatever there is, the overlay seems to restrict it.

Bronx has two different head options. His default head is supposed to be calm, but he still looks pretty ferocious. It has a hinged jaw as well, and opening it reveals fully sculpted teeth and a tongue. His alternate head has the mouth permanently sculpted open in a roaring expression, and man, does it look great. The paint between the lighter and darker shades of blue blend together much better on it as well. The heads swap easily, and allow for more display options on the shelf.

Being a four-legged creature hasn't affected Bronx's mobility in any way, as he has just as much articulation as the others. He has ball-joints at the head, neck, and tail, swivel/hinge shoulders, elbows, wrists, forefeet, knees, ankles, and hindfeet, and ball-socket hips with thigh swivels. The hinges are pretty tight, so much so on the elbows that hot water was needed to get them moving, but it helps him to hold a pose. As stated above, I'm not sure if there's any joints under the torso, but they would've allowed Bronx to get some more dynamic poses. All in all, though, he moves great.

Accessory-wise, Bronx is very light, only having the aforementioned roaring head and a piece of meat for him to chew on. However, he does get a really nice accessory to go with another figure. Remember how people complained that Goliath's wings took up too much space? Well, Bronx has a pair of closed wings for him, and they're perfect for if you want to just pose Goliath standing rather than in mid-air. You'll have to pop off his head to get them on, though these wings being made of very soft plastic makes them easy to attach.

It's nice to finally have gotten ahold of Bronx, mainly because he's a lot of fun to pose and play around with. I feel that he may be the best figure in the line so far, if not the best figure I've gotten period, but he's only the fourth one out so far, and there's still plenty more to look forwards to.
