Gandalf the White (Beige Sheath, Off-White Robes)Lord of the Rings - Two Towers (Toy Biz) - Series 1

DeaditorI own both beige and white robes versions of this Gandalf and besides the colour pallets they are the same, though interestingly no Gandalf gets the sheath right as it’s white not beige or blue or grey but white when he’s in this form. This figure has a better glamdring though with the blue handle but as I said both are the same figure with the vinyl cloak which is nicely detailed with an Elven broach but very cumbersome and the terrible staff raising/ sword slash action feature of pressing the button on his back to activate this feature which leaves him with limited arm movement. He has a swivel head, swivel right arm with swivel elbow and wrists but the right arm can also hinge out, swivel waist, hinged legs that’s can go forward and single jointed knees and ankles. So for articulation...[

Return of Gandalf (UK)Lord of the Rings - Two Towers (Toy Biz) - International Exclusives

DeaditorWhat an odd gift pack Gandalf and Gimli sure, but helmsdeep Aragorn and Legolas? Unless this “return of Gandalf” mwant wen he brought the Rohirrim to Helms Deep, but no it’s clearly fangorn forrrest on the box and description. How perculiur but it’s not the only example of this of course and this set is a special exclusive and also I’ve noticed has the ugliest Gandalf head I’ve ever seen. So you get a clean white Gandalf with the bad head specified, a Helms Deep Aragorn which I do like, Regular Gimli and the bad head variant of Legolas with the poor serial bad paint apps of brown hair and hair flowing back. So it’s not worth the price I’ve seen it go for unless one is desperate to complete their collection which is essentially buying cardboard st thirst point. It’s not the weirdest...[

Gimli (Helm's Deep) (Australia)Lord of the Rings - Two Towers (Toy Biz) - International Exclusives

DeaditorI want to review this figure in 2 ways: 1 about the figure in its rarity and 2 an overall review if the figure itself for people just wanting a Gimli figure review.
So to begin with this is an Australia exclusive carded figure if Gimli that only a limited amount were made and became extremely rare and got for around £200-£500 online. It’s finny that packaging saying ‘Helms Deep Gimli’ is worth that but that’s the world we live in. If you do find one of these somehow DO NOT OPEN IT. Sell it online and find a Gimli in a 2 pack or multipack boxset gift box set of figures if you need a loose one.
Moving onto the figure itself it’s just a Gimli figure. He has 2 throwing axes, a double headed axe, a walking axe and helmet as accessories but no cloak despite him clearly wearing one from...[

GrishnakhLord of the Rings - Two Towers (Toy Biz) - Series 5

DeaditorI don’t have any massive complaint with this figure other than its colour being off as Grishnákh isn’t orange day or night. His skin colour reminds me of granite if anything but a bit darker with some purples in. Anyway he comes with a scimitar in his left hand and an open right hand has all the detail the character has and has an action feature of pressing a button allows the figure to swipe with the scimitar. So it’s not too in the way. This figure is repackaged a lot and fun fact the moranon orc is just a grishnahk diffuse without the fur pelt and a new head. Overall it’s a perfectly adaquate figure with decent enough articulation for an older figure and I’ve always liked it...[

Gollum (Electronic Base)Lord of the Rings - Two Towers (Toy Biz) - Series 4

DeaditorThe only good thing about this Gollum/ Sméagol is the detailed head which is far superior to the Sméagol one on the articulated one as it gives you a really nasty Gollum head you could swap out. As it is this figure is a bendy rubber figure with metal wires inside to allow the boasted super poseability on the box, which is false as the wires are too weak to get him into any real poses for too long and frankly your left with a stiff figure. It’s not great and I’d recommend getting the super poseabel one and maybe one of these ones cheap to swap out the head. He does come with a decent base which badly says my precious but looks decent enough....[

Frodo (Light-up Sting)Lord of the Rings - Two Towers (Toy Biz) - Series 3

DeaditorA gimick figure that whilst it makes sense to creat a light up effect for this Frodo’s Sword Sting, it suffers from terrible articulation due to this and is just something for young children to get excited about or collectors to get. It rest isn’t great, but I suppose it’s the only figure of Frodo in just his waist coat so if you were to take this figures Eloise vinyl waist coat and give it to a Frodo that just has a shirt on you could have a Frodo to represent the two towers Frodo after the hobbits are captured by Faramir. He has basic articulation but the sword is oversized for the effect which I wonder if one were to take an invisible Doris sword from Bilbo if it could be swapped out achieving s better effect....[

Rohirrim SoldierLord of the Rings - Two Towers (Toy Biz) - Series 2

DeaditorToybiz did a phenomenal job of making almost everything we see on screen in the lotr trilogy and provided us with figures like this to army build. The Rohirrim soldier comes with a removable helmet, plastic cloak, shield, spear in two parts and a sword. The face is fine but nothing amazing, but you’d probably keep the helmet on most of the time anyway and the overal detail is spot on and the articulation is good. My only real complaint is the cloak which makes it impossible for him to sit on a horse. Imagine that, a Rohirrim soldier who can’t ride! The solution I’ve found for this is to carefully cut the plastic ends off the cape then stretch them to a home made green cloak so they can ride a horse and the cape has the detail and retains the initial shape but the cape isn’t a lump of...[

Legolas (Rohan Armor)Lord of the Rings - Two Towers (Toy Biz) - Series 1

DeaditorThis is one of the best Legolas figures made. The likeness is decent enough and the articulation is good. He comes with a vinyl cape, has Rohan pauldrons, a Rohan sword, his twin daggers, bow of the galadrim, arrows and all his accessories fit in sheathes or his quiver. There’s a lot to like about this figure, my only issues with this one as well as the majority of Legolas figures is that he’s too tall and should be roughly the same height as Aragorn for film accuracy and his hands are often not tight enough to accommodate holding his iconic daggers. Other than this and the viynl cape (which I swapped out with aclith one from the fellowship gift pack) it’s a really good figure and this one on single card back is usually better than the ones in multipacks as there’s variations with the...[

King TheodenLord of the Rings - Two Towers (Toy Biz) - Series 2

DeaditorThis figure probably has the best likeness to Bernard Hill and I’m glad this variation was made of this figure outside his armour. It’s a decent figure and the articulation is fine. He comes with a vinyl cape and his sword. He also has an action feature of pressing s button to make him attack with his right arm (Theoden being left handed usually makes this strange as his left hand can’t grasp his sword, the only time he uses his right hand is during the speech to his men at the Pelenor fields). I like the design of this figure he can sit on a horse well enough and is with added to anyone collection....[

Grima WormtongueLord of the Rings - Two Towers (Toy Biz) - Series 2

DeaditorGrima looks the part and comes with some suitable accessories: a handkerchief, his dagger, a larger curved dagger (utilised in The Third Age game so I wonder if it was a conceptual design) and a silly oversized lump of plastic meant to be a poison vile. I like this figure for being well detailed, but due to his plastic robes you can’t pose him much and the action feature of him stabbing means his right arm is a mechanism that can’t be moved about much. Aside from that it’s a really decent figure that I enjoy having, though his dagger is oversized and mini mates did a better representation of that dagger and fbis grima can’t hole his accessories that well. So it has issues, it’s a good design just not perfect and gets an average rating....[
