Treehouse
Simpsons (Playmates) - Interactive Playsets
Rated 4.00 stars by RMaster007
In the early 2000s, Playmates Toys put out what just might be their best toy line yet: The Simpsons. The Simpsons has gotten a lot of merchandise, but none of them can beat the World of Springfield line. The main gimmick of these figures that they speak if connected to playsets, but they were also known for great sculpts and accessories. I have a big collection of the World of Springfield figures (not a complete collection however), and aside from Palisades' Muppets figures, it's my all-time favorite line. For my first review, I'm doing Bart's Treehouse. The packaging on the set looks great. It has pretty decent graphics, and there's a hole on the side of the box so you can try out the talking feature. There's a few twist-ties to remove, and some screws keeping the set inside the box...[See More]
Tom (Zoot Suit)
Hanna Barbera (Jazwares) - Tom and Jerry
Rated 3.65 stars by RMaster007
Jazwares is a company whose work ranges from good to bad, or just in-between. Their Fortnite and RWBY figures are excellent, but most of their other licenses are inconsistent in quality and perfection. One of their licenses, the Hanna-Barbera line, is mostly good aside from some imperfections. One of the more perfect figures is Tom from Tom and Jerry fame in his zoot suit. I've never seen him show up at retailers, but he does show up online every now and then, especially on Amazon. I found mine at a toy show three years ago. The packaging on him is a decent cardback. It has some good graphics, especially the back, which has art showing a whole amount of the classic cartoons most people grew up with. The sculpting on Zoot Tom looks great, despite his head being smaller in scale than the...[See More]
Invader Zim (Old Man Diguise)
Invader Zim (Palisades) - Exclusives
Rated 3.75 stars by RMaster007
When I did my review on this, I had a somewhat negative opinion on it, but since then, this set's grown on me, so it's time I gave it another go. And I'm talking about the Wizard World Chicago exclusive Old Man Zim and Gir set my Palisades Toys. The packaging is a simple box, using the splatter graphics used on Nickelodeon merch in the mid-2000s. We also have some graphics of Zim on the box as well. The inside of the box even shows off a Zim-like background. Sure, the box isn't much, but it works for this exclusive. Let's start off with Zim. He's wearing his old man disguise which was seen in at least two episodes. He has a screaming expression, although I would've preferred a different head sculpt, and a left hand sculpted to hold accessories. The paint job is mostly perfect, aside...[See More]
Big
Sonic Adventure (ReSaurus) - Series 2
Rated 3.00 stars by RMaster007
ReSaurus was a short lived toy company and began in the 90s, and shut down in 2001. Some of their licenses included Jeff Smith's Bone, Speed Racer, Street Fighter, Sonic Adventure, and Crash Bandicoot, and the latter two licenses can go for high prices on eBay and othe online stores. Years ago, I was lucky to find this figure, who in this case, is Big the Cat from the Sonic the Hedgehog series. I got him loose, so I won't being doing a score for the package. Sculpt - ***1/2 The sculpt is very good, especially if you compare it to Toy Island's Big the Cat. Most of the body is plastic, but the head and tail are made of a softer, vinyl-like material. The elbow on his left arm is bent, which looks really nice. Paint - *** The paint job isn't too bad. Some smudges on it, but it's a used...[See More]
Dancing Snoopy
A Charlie Brown Christmas (Memory Lane) - Basic Series
Rated 3.00 stars by RMaster007
A classic scene from A Charlie Brown Christmas, this figure shows the lovable Snoopy dancing happily. This figure was originally released by Memory Lane in 2004, but was later re-released by Round 2 in 2006, with different packaging. I obtained this one at a flea market for $6. Packaging - *** (yes I will be using the four-star system MWCToys uses) Nice, big box for such a big figure. There's also a "try me" hole on the side of the box. Sculpt - **** This is a big Snoopy figure, and he's done in a great post. Arms out, feet moving, and joyous as can be. He's scultped out of hollow plastic/vinyl, and looks great. However, he's a bit wobbly due to the feet, but he still balances well. Paint - ***1/2 The paint job looks excellent, and his eyes and grin are painted on. Articulation -...[See More]
