We all know who the Muppets are, ranging from Kermit and crew to the many characters of Sesame Street, but we can't forget Fraggle Rock. I recently got into the show, and with its fun characters, great songs, and entertaining stories, it's definitely worth your time. Boss Fight Studios acquired the license last year, and the first wave should be here soon. For now, they're kicking things off with a "preview" figure: Flange, one of the various Doozers on the show. The packaging is somewhat simple but good, with a red-purple gradient almost all around, a cross-sell on one side, and a character bio and accessory layout on the back. Having already done the cartoon and movie versions of Casey Jones, it's no surprise that the Mirage version was next. Although he's been out for a while, I didn't pick it up until I hit up Best Buy recently in hopes of finding their exclusives. Better to get something than nothing. As with any incarnation of the character, Casey wears a hockey mask to conceal his identity. Actually, I think it's just to make him look cool. The mask has a blocky appearance, with a few scuffs here and there, letting you know he's been in a few fights. His wild, messy hair, rather than being solid black, has some brown wash to make it pop more. An unmasked portrait is included as well, with a gritted teeth expression fitting to the character. Quarter-scale is rather unusual for action figures, considering that sixth-scale is a more common size for large figures. However, NECA's being producing figures in such as scale for years, with the more recent ones coming from the TMNT license. I already got the first 1/4 toon figure, Raphael, and now it's on to the second one: Donatello. Since the turtles all looked the same in the show, NECA was easily able to reuse the mold for Raphael for Donatello. The default portrait gives Donnie the reused mad eyes, but the closed mouth is a new piece, and the extra head is a surprised expression with open eyes and mouth. Not only has NECA been doing pretty good with the Gargoyles license, but they've upped the frequency of releases. There were just three figures released last year, and only two the year before, but there's been NINE figures out this year, which is definitely a good sign as we're seeing more of the main cast finished up. One of the many recent releases is Goliath and Demona's daughter Angela, who was introduced during season two's long story arc. They're still killing it with the box art, with this one being done by Djordje Djokovic and Emiliano Santalucia. It depicts Angela in a foggy body of water, accompanied by Bronx, who was with her during that season two arc. Back in the 20th century, Universal made themselves known for providing the most-recognized versions of classic monsters, such as Frankenstein, the Wolfman, Dracula, the Creature of the Black Lagoon, and more. There are also a couple that aren't as well known nor did they exist before the films, such as the Metaluna Mutant. Appearing near the end of 1955's This Island Earth, the Mutant proved to be the most fondly-remember part of an otherwise uneventful film, and is one of the finest examples of "guy in a rubber suit" in cinema. It's gotten a few figures over the years, the latest being Super7's Ultimate, as the first Universal Monster in the format (NECA beat them to all the popular ones). Fall is approaching, and the kids are already heading back to school, but it means nothing for us who are already out of school. To commemorate this time of year, NECA did a "back to school" Gremlin a few years back, and you can get ahold of it easily if you know where to look. This version of the Gremlin is based off, of all things, an old newsprint ad from when the movie was still new. Said ad is recreated for the figure, but in color, and it looks very nice. The rest of the packaging has a school theme, and all the graphics are pretty good, with a few references to the film. As usual, there's a few plastic ties to snip out to remove the figure, but that aside, it's easy to get all the stuff out. When NECA announced a return to the Mirage TMNT figure line, nobody expected them to do more comic figures than just the Turtles' origins. In addition to The Last Ronin, Archie Comics' TMNT Adventures gets its own new figure line. As far as I'm concerned, Adventures rarely, if ever, got figures, so this is kind of a big deal. And kicking this line off is Slash, the monstrous turtle who's had prior NECA experience. The packaging is similar the current Mirage line, with a trapezoidal window box outfitted with illustrations. These illustrations are provided by Adventures artist Ken Mitchroney, and the packaging motif as a whole gives off a vintage comic vibe. It's been a while since I got anything from Super7's Animaniacs Ultimates line, and considering how there's only five figures in the line, it shouldn't have taken me this long to complete the collection. Still, it's nice to finally add onto it with the younger Warner brother, Wakko. Wakko gets an expression fitting for the character, with tilted eyes and tongue hanging out, and his head is a solid hunk of a soft, vinyl-like material. The paint on it is pretty decent, but there is some fuzziness where the white face meets the black far and eyes. He gets an alternate head with an "ooohh" expression, but this one is also wearing a gladiator helmet. Don't recognize it? G.I. Joe (Super7) - Ultimates

The launch figure for Super7's G.I. Joe line was not something from the main line, but rather a Comic Con exclusive of the B.A.T. (Battle Android Trooper)'s comic design. I made sure to order one when I had the chance, and it was a great start to the new line. Now, here's the cartoon version. As I mentioned in my review of the comic B.A.T., both it and the cartoon version share much of the same tooling, but with some areas of difference. One of those different areas of the head, as the cartoon version has a much different head shape, and also seems to be a little smaller in size. The head is very accurate to the cartoon, and gets some nice paint as well, utilizing a bold red color for the "face." One of the most iconic 80s villains, and would-be most dangerous terrorist… if the Joes didn't foil his plans every other day, and if he didn't run away every time. As a foe whose true identity is a mystery, just like the person who sculpted this figure, Cobra Commander is commonly seen wearing what appears to be a metal mask, along with a blue helmet. The sculpt for the head looks good, since it's hard to screw up a portrait with no visible face. I thought the helmet was too high up on the head at first, but it looks fine in-hand aside from being a little off-center. Although the hooded look was just as common in-show, Hasbro barred Super7 from doing it for some reason.
