Gorbag (with Webbed Frodo)
Lord of the Rings - Trilogy (Toy Biz) - Return of the King - Series 4
Rated 4.00 stars by Deaditor
So it’s super articulated, has appropriate accessories minus a whip for gaming Shelob and well detailed but the paint job is so wrong. Gorbag has a much lighter green skin tone with white markings on his face and blue eyes, which if you paint over this figure he looks perfect, so it is fixable, but the second problem is the choice of the plastic used for the straps on the figure as they tend to snap. A softer rubbery plastic or vinyl would have been better as it inhibits then articulation or breaks in places. Apart from this he comes with a sword his dagger which fits into a back sheath and Frodo all Webbed up which is a great accessory just not quite right in shape and painting pattern compared to how it is on screen....[See More]
Frodo (Shelob Attack)
Lord of the Rings - Trilogy (Toy Biz) - Return of the King - Series 4
Rated 3.90 stars by Deaditor
I thibk there’s some good aspect for this figure and some bad ones. I like the unique figure and I love the light up light of earendil idea but it adds to some of the figures problems. The fact that there is a light up feature means that the arm has to be as high as possible for it to activate and I’m always concerned it might break and the fact that the hand is the same piece as the Phail means you can see through the hand so it needs a repaint there. The right hand should have been empty as Frodo loses sting during his encounter with Shelob so for whatever reason he comes with an oversized sword stuck in his hand. It reminds me of the light up sting figure and therefore as that ones empty arm was articulated this one could have been also. The cloak is fine as it has that web detailing...[See More]
Denethor (Steward of Gondor)
Lord of the Rings - Trilogy (Toy Biz) - Return of the King - Series 4
Rated 4.90 stars by Deaditor
It looks the part, it’s articulated and comes with all the accessories you’d want, but once again those massive vinyl plastic robes get in the way. If any figure is coated in robes then need to be softgoods or the articulation boasted becomes pointless. The figures detail is great with a very decent likeness to John Noble’s character and he comes with his steward sceptre, sword and Boromir’s split horn which is finicky as it folds open with a hinge but gets the job done....[See More]
Shelob (Super Poseable)
Lord of the Rings - Trilogy (Toy Biz) - Return of the King - Series 3
Rated 4.80 stars by Deaditor
What a treat that this was made. It’s highly detailed and fairly poseable and despite some small issues it’s really good. I’d have liked a stinger, aomething retractable like the witch kings morgul blade would have been a good idea and the legs on mine were all backward facing meaning she couldn’t stand well, so using heat I popped out her front four legs and swapped them to the other sides so she’d stand more like a spider with forward and backward facing legs. Maybe this is just an issue with mine, if so then its not s massively problem the overall thing to take away from this is she’s an awesome figure and so worth getting no collection is complete without the iconic arachnid....[See More]
Gimli (Coronation Attire)
Lord of the Rings - Trilogy (Toy Biz) - Return of the King - Series 3
Rated 4.50 stars by Deaditor
Ah now here’s some familiar territory. Those who follow me know hat I know this figure literally inside and out as I’ve owned several to make some of the 13 Dwarves meaning alongside Eowyn in armour he’s the most reused figure in my Customs, but does that mean it’s any good? Well the best aspect of this Gimli is the articulation, which Gimli never has much of. I don’t have an issue with the original 2 Gimli figures but they don’t allow anything beyond the swivel arms and stuck in standing position legs. This figure has double hinged arms and legs which I of course added to the classic Gimli to make him super articulated. This figure is also highly detailed looking very close to the onsceeen design, however it’s not great entirely. I think the head is far too small and often the paint job...[See More]
Legolas (Super Poseable, Dagger Throwing)
Lord of the Rings - Trilogy (Toy Biz) - Return of the King - Series 1
Rated 1.00 stars by Deaditor
I absolutely despise this figure. It’s one of the least articulated Legolas figures for one that boasts its articulation on the box as there is no poseability at all he’s basically a statue with swivelling legs, head and some awful upper body movement. He’s bulky also. The only good thing I can take away from this figure is that the handles on the throwing daggers are thicker than the regular daggers Legolas comes with and the blades are slightly longer but more rounded so for playability or posing a Legolas with daggers in hand becomes easier. The figure itself isn’t great. The action feature involves putting a dagger into the open slot on his quiver and pressing a button and he reaches back grabs the dagger and throws it. Legolas has never grown a dagger in the entire 6 films so this...[See More]

Lord of the Rings - Trilogy (Toy Biz) - Gift Packs
Rated 5.00 stars by Deaditor
Brilliant value as a gift pack so I don’t have too many complaints. Each figure is different and obviously I’ve reviewed them or intend to go over them as individual ones but as a gift pack this is one of my favourite ones as it saves you having to buy Theoden, king Aragorn, Isildur, king of the dead and Elendil figures individually. The reason I did not include the witch king in that line up is because this is the only incomplete figure in this set as he does not come with a flaming sword. This isn’t a problem but if you want that fire effect it means buying he morgul witch king by himself....[See More]
There and Back Again
Lord of the Rings - Trilogy (Toy Biz) - Gift Packs
Rated 5.00 stars by Deaditor
A really nice set with 5 unique figures all articulated well and detailed nicely. I always wondered if the attention to detail included Frodo missing a finger and yes he does indeed have a missing finger meaning they didn’t miss a thing. I think it would be appropriate to have the book also in scale with the figures in this set, but you can get that from the traveling Bilbo and use it as a prop still. The boom you do get contains maps and the there and back again quote in the front. Another accessory needed is bilobs cane as he is old and I feel the head on this one is a cheesy big grin Bilbo and not a much older Bilbo as we see in the film. Overall though it’s a really nice set that didn’t need to be made but that’s what I love about Toybiz they always pushed the bar for making almost...[See More]
Peter Jackson (Hobbit)
Lord of the Rings - Trilogy (Toy Biz) - Fellowship of the Ring - Series 5
Rated 5.00 stars by Deaditor
Nothing to complain about it’s a gem of a figure. Having Peter Jackson in Hobbit form is great and hilarious as often he gets teased for being an actual hobbit being not particularly tall, loving food and never wearing shoes and having calloused feet! It’s a nice little addition, though there is a more obvious figure as they could have gone with one of his cameos, but nevertheless it’s cool and unique....[See More]
Strider (Super Poseable)
Lord of the Rings - Trilogy (Toy Biz) - Fellowship of the Ring - Series 4
Rated 4.00 stars by Deaditor
A super articulated strider with some issues. First of all the head is terrible, I can see the attempt to get it to look like the character but he looks more like a much younger strider with sad eyes, a much better head is the two towers Helms deep head so swap it with that. Secondly the accessories or lack of them as you get a poncho that is vinyl so it’s bulky and doesn’t allow much posing together than standing, I’d prefer a soft goods one that could cover his face so you could reinsct the Bree scene and maybe a pipe would be cool. His sword is fine, perhaps a bit too big when comparing it to a Anduril sword, but THIS is the figure that needed the little utility cutting knife. It’s a shame he didn’t come with a bow, quiver, arrows and sleeping roll as travelling gear like the original...[See More]
