Vintage Tacky Stretchoid Warriors (Giraya Ninja); a sticky problem in Action Figure Chatter by argenta-2008

Do someone remember these? they were a japanese line of elastic figures, sold in the US as "Tacky Stretchoid Warriors" by Bandai. I had one as a kid and I loved them.

Question is, now I have 3 of them in my collection, but one of them has degraded, presumably due to heat, and has become very tacky and lost it's composure, so much that a bit of his hand has stuck to the box . Do you know some remedy to restore him to a better condition? I thought about baby oil, but not sure and I don't want to make matters even worse.

And, how do you think it's best to keep these elastic figures? in the box surely not as they get too hot, do I keep in a zip bag or I display them in the shelf in open air?

B/S/T List Legends, Transformers, BAF Pieces, Fodder, & More 10/22/2019 in Trading Post by Spoon
Updated Tuesday, October 22, 2019
   [Edit]
Thanks for the time. Want list is at the bottom. Anything loose has only ever been displayed. I'd prefer to trade but I'll also take Pay-Pal or a payment through the mail. Items ship after cleared payment. Things traded or pending marked as such, so please check. I'd prefer to deal within the USA, but I'll consider deals outside the USA.

I know a lot of the Monster High dolls come with fishnet stockings, maybe something like that could work?

I'm sure you can find a roll of mesh or whatever at a craft or fabric store. Sometimes you can even find some when you buy fruit lol

I've found some, but the mesh is usually too large. I need something in scale with the 6in figures like with Black Canary.
3.75" scale hair casts in Action Figure Chatter by Mister Skeezler
Friday, October 18, 2019
   [Edit]
I'm looking to replace the hair piece on my 3.75" Mara Jade. I'd like to use something from the Marvel Universe 3.75" line, but I'd rather not buy the entire figure, if I could get a cast instead. Does anyone know if there's an online source for casts of hair pieces only? And if so, would a hair piece cast have the same flexibility as some of the more recent production pieces?...[See More]

The only way a cast is flexible is if it's cast with flexible resin, like Flex 30 by Alumilite. You'll have to ask the caster if they're willing to use that stuff.

Storage help in Custom Workstation by Jurassicjennie

   [Edit]

Hi, I’m after advice on how best to store custom figures when they aren’t out for display. I don’t want to risk storing something and coming back to it at a later date to find the paint has become stuck to whatever i store it in, or turned sticky. My figures are mostly customised with the usual model acrylic paints and some matte varnish.
Thanks...[See More]

I have a lot of customs in storage and they look as good as when I put them in there. I just put them in sturdy sandwich bags with a little air trapped inside to act as a cushion so they aren't crushed if something lays on them.

Don't use plastic wrap, that stuff can cling to paint so well that when you peel it off it'll tear the paint off with it.

Great thanks, that was my current solution, glad to know my figures should last in them. I’m aware certain plastic bags can make old figures go sticky so I’ll stick with the same bags I use for vintage, with some added air!
Removing feet from All-Father Scarlet Witch in Custom Workstation by Aragogo
Tuesday, October 8, 2019
   [Edit]
Hey guys! Hope y'all can shed some light on my situation.

I want to use my old All-Father Scarlet Witch (the one with the heels) for a custom figure, but unfortunately I can't disassemble her legs/feet. I tried heating up the joints multiple times, but what happens is that the joint itself threatens to come loose and stretches out of the leg socket before the peg even comes out of the feet. I've had that problem with the rest of the figure too (removing her arms from her upper torso) but it hasn't been nearly as bad as this. When I heat it up, I'm worried I'll pull the whole joint out of the leg before I pull the peg from the foot.

Am I doing something wrong? Maybe a wrong angle?...[See More]

You will need to brace the ankle joint at the end of the leg. A small pair of craft pliers should work. You will also need to get the figure good and hot. After that, you should be good.

I mean, you never know. The bodies may be the same, but the quality of plastic could be different!

Oh God, I'd love it if someone started to 3D print/cast figure pieces. Especially things like heeled feet, or different body parts (like making casts/prints of the Moonstone body). Sadly, I lack talent in that area.

Considering all these figures use the same bodies it'll probs have the same issue.

I was considering 3D printing replacement joints for cases like this, but there doesn't seem to be much interest in 3D printing stuff for action figures, and people I've collaborated with flake out.

(I should rephrase, there's interest in printing stuff for figures, but no one wants to do any work to make it happen haha)

Since I'm still in the market for heeled feet, what are the chances of the SDCC The Raft Enchantress' feet being a better option? Or do those stretch/have horrible pegs too?

Looks like they both use pins so yeah, you should be able to heat the parts to disassemble them.

All the Help I can Get - Retired Newbie in Custom Workstation by elroboto

   [Edit]
One overlooked gal is the Skrull Princess Anelle. Have wanted to attempt her for years, but my skills hardly match my ambition (with a custom nobody's attempted yet). Minimal experience with Apoxie (My stash is dryig up. Mfgr suggests preheating in sunlight.) Better with paint. I'm looking for suggestions on a close 5-6" base figure that I won't get frustrated with.... Except for the angry face, dress is a bit similar to Marvel Legends and Marvel Universe (too small?) Mystique. Complete repaint though. Very open to any ideas. Keeping it simple. - Bob...[See More]
