Resin 3D printing for action figures in Custom Workstation by Henchmen4Hire
Updated Monday, November 25, 2019
   [Edit]
Finally we're at a point where high-quality 3D printing is easily affordable and accessible to everyone. The only thing holding us back from printing everything our heart desires is the lack of 3D models themselves. That's where you come in!

I recently bought a resin 3D printer and have been experimenting with it. I'm blown away by the quality of the prints and started making my own models to make customizing easier. So far I've made accessories for 6 inch Clone Troopers / Star Wars figures and am selling them on my Etsy shop.

I'm not out to end traditional casting, there will always be a place for that. 3D prints have significant advantages however. No giant mold lines, easily resizable prin...[See More]

Something I'm noticing after doing this for a bit-

When I see sellers charging $10 *just for the service* of printing, and then charging for the materials on top of that, I think I'm pricing stuff too low. Here I am selling heads for $5 plus shipping, and even researching and making significant edits to models for free, and I think I understand why people have been so happy to buy my prints haha.

I think it's time to get back to work on those figure stands I designed a while back.

Charge whatever price you think your work is worth, no more no less. Keep in mind you're providing a service that few other offer, don't sell your work short. Keep time and material in mind when you work out your prices, it needs to be worth the effort you're putting into this. Consider the same principles you use when selling a custom: Time, materials, shipping, etc.

I'll definitely want to use your service in the future, but I need to find the right models first.

Inappropriate, code of conduct in Figure Realm Comments and Questions by TheSolarSailor
Updated Tuesday, November 5, 2019
   [Edit]
All of a sudden, I have trouble posting a Tom of Finland figure because I am violating the code of conduct by posting inappropriate pictures. Nothing different from the past posts in this series which were ok. I just spent time looking up female action figures such as Vampirella, Fairchild, and others, and I noticed plenty of excessive titts and ass cheeks hanging out of the thongs of women wearing practically nothing. I even found some nipples. Totally family friendly regarding these women characters, but God forbid it be a guy character. Ah the double standards....[See More]

Check my responses in this topic https://www.figurerealm.com/topic?topicid=10390

I don't know who the few other Regulators are, but I wouldn't be surprised if we have different ideas for what's acceptable, so the same submissions may get accepted or rejected depending on who gets to it first.

There may also be a system in place where if a Regulator rejects something, and the person then submits the exact same thing again, it may get auto-rejected. I'm not 100% sure on that, that's why I suggested they contact the admin. (Instead the person made another topic to call us all idiots and left forever, so meh.) ...

Hasbro Pink Ranger Problems (There's alot of them) in Action Figure Chatter by MercMouth Customs
Friday, November 15, 2019
   [Edit]
I'm just posting this here to warn anyone planning to buy the Lightning collection MMPR Pink Ranger, so you know what you're getting into before you buy.

The Pink Ranger has a host of problems:

1. Her sculpt looks unfinished. Her arms legs are too thin for the body, and the boots flare out too much at the top, making her look even smaller and scrawnier.

2. She's scaled too small even with the guy rangers. If you compare them she's the same size as the children Marvel Legends like Ms. Marvel. I think they should have made the girls the same height as the guys, even if it wouldn't be 100% show accurate.

3. The butterfly shoulders don't offer much range of motion beyond being able to pull the arms back really far, which won't look natural ...[See More]

The whole lightning collection line is a mess to avoid. The anatomy is abismal. And they have no excuse after years of making legends. The torsos are way too long. Maybe a neck length too tall. The torso looks stretched or elongated. Chiefly because elected to make the sculpt fit the articulation rather than fit the articulation into the sculpt. With very deep butterfly, upper torso ball and lower torso crunch, on an unmuscular buck. Doesn't fit. It's terrible. And the female body, which we have only seen in the pink ranger so far, the legs are too long. The mmpr figures the belt buckle morpher is terrible, to small and thin, the helmets paint q. C is terrible and often missing, same with weapon accessories missing paint, the newer series figures, has sculpted suit detail which is too deep ...

The only thing I'd say the Figuarts versions do objectively better is the heads. The sculpt and paint is definitely spot on. Other than that it's more of a pick your poison choice.

If you go from top of the belt to bottom of the neck, where the neck joins the torso, you will see the lightning is too long. It's also more obvious in posed photos...., like the promo shot, or if you can find the photo somebody's done of him sitting the the Lord draken figure in the comicon exclusive draken throne. The shield/in packet shot kind of hides the elongation. Compare a posed one to a posed figuarts. I have got capability to paste 2 photos together on my phone.

No. It's bad, and it's starting to trickle into legends the new grey beast figure coming out has the lightning collection torso articulation and it looks. It has a big horizontal cut line in the front, where as if they had put the joint up the other way the cut would be hidden under the upper ball joint torso piece.

Th ...

What do you mean "the lightning is too long"?

Myself I'm not wild about the Figuarts Rangers. They're a little too small in scale for my personal taste, and I don't like how the hip articulation looks near the crotch.

Can you provide a picture of the Red Ranger with the unpainted cuffs? I've been checking photos myself and they have new arms without the cuffs.
Looking for Lightning Collection MMPR Red Ranger in Trading Post by MercMouth Customs

I know the next wave of Lightning rangers hasn't hit stores yet but I've seen people reviewing the figure online, and some of them have ordered the entire boxset and had it delivered. Each box has three Red Rangers.

Does anyone have an extra MMPR Red Ranger they'd be willing to sell or trade for?...[See More]

Looking at the pictures of the Pink Ranger I just realized that they didn't bother giving the girls double jointed elbows either, which is yet another blow against Hasbro. It pisses me off since they've made recent figures with double joints that preserve the aesthetics, like Endgame Black Widow and Proxima Midnight. I don't know why they don't update the elbow joints whenever they have to make a new sculpt.

If you're going to mod Kimberly you might check out the ML Boom Boom. She has a mostly pink body that you might be able to marry with the Lightning Pink.

Awwww, yeah waited a long time just to be disappointed and have to make customs of the chicks. :/ Hopefully the Black Widow/Bike set goes on sale, since that has a full body suit. I wanted the old movie armored versions anyway.

Oh yeah Putties, if they don't go down to $10 like all the unwanted Marvel Legends figs, I'm just going to make my own too lol. More armor, more rock attachments, more brutal.

You should grab a Goldar from Gamestop as well, the sculpt on him is beautiful, though he'll need a repaint to get that golden look. I also recommend Magna Defender as well. I was also able to score a Green Ranger/Putty Patroller two-pack (I mostly wanted the putty, not a big green ranger fan. Looking forward to getting the Red Ranger in December. I don't want to pay an extra 15 bucks to get it scalped.

I agree on the Pink Ranger, I was very disappointed with her sculpt. Arms are a are a little too thin, boots are a little too wide where they meet her legs, the chest diamond is too thin, though I've been told that's because they based her on the American suit which boggles my mind since that's the inferior look. The skirt rides far too high on the body, though it is very flexible so maybe ...

I remember seeing your figure. There was nothing wrong with it and it was very well done, but it did show a nipple!!!! Oh god, a barely noticeable nipple will be this website's undoing!!!! Here lately, the site has begun overreacting. They recently created a special category for my Tom of Finland figures, yet now are giving me trouble over posting a new figure picture. There is nothing in the new one that differs from previous entries.

1] It’s not a "special category", it's simply a series like any other. People can request them too. I also add them for everyone when they submit stuff for a series we don't have listed yet.

2] There's no "site has begun overreacting", like I said, there are like 3 people who manually approve customs. Use the Contact link if you have questions/concerns.

Another idea is to use other websites to showcase your work. This crowd is more into superhero stuff, it may not be the best audience to appreciate your stuff anyway.

I think as of now there are only like 2 to 3 Regulators that have the ability to mess with the Custom Showcase: Me, possibly another guy, and Captain Coder (the admin) himself.

I've been very hands off for months now. I'm not happy with the state of the site and don't feel like expending a bunch of energy on it like I used to. If the site ever got a "modern makeover" maybe I'd care more.

Cap lets a bunch of stuff slide, you can find Nazis and boobies in the Showcase, I think he knows the difference between pornography/malicious imagery/whatever and a custom figure meant as art. ...
