Saturday, June 6, 2020
   [Edit]
Does anybody know where to get a 6" giant penny for a dio? The biggest I've been able to find is 3". I was hoping maybe someone knows where to find one, or could possibly put a 3d print on shapeways or something....[See More]

Best bet is to get a 3D model of a penny and have someone print it for you with an FDM printer.

Reddit has a large community of people looking for gigs like that https://www.reddit.com/r/3Dprintmything/

The closest that I once found to imitate the Batcave penny was a small round wooden tray, so I guess it could only be customized from similar-sized kitchen appliances.
Best Airbrush in Custom Workstation by BuriedOnSunday
Tuesday, June 23, 2020
   [Edit]
So, I'm in the market for an airbrush set up and I can't exactly make heads or tails of what I should go with when it comes to customizing 1:12 scale figures. I've read up some on it but I'm still confused here. I'd like some recommendations in the mid-higher price range. From what I can tell, I should be looking for a compressor with a tank and to make sure it has pressure control, a drain to release moisture that collects in the tank, is oil-less, and hopefully quiet.

Any and all help appreciated, thank you....[See More]

What do you want to do with it? Most people just use them for basecoating and rudimentary shading, and you can do that with a cheap $20 airbrush.

Airbrushes aren't magic, don't spend a bunch on it.

Get a double-action airbrush, that means the trigger lets you control both the paint flow (pulling back farther sprays more paint) and airflow (by simply pressing down). ...
Can anyone think of a practical application for sanded epoxy putty powder? in Custom Workstation by timone317
Saturday, March 30, 2019
   [Edit]
I managed to gain a small collection of epoxy putty fragments from various projects over the years and have had no way of disposing of them (I have concerns about simply tossing them in the trash). It finally reached a point where the "collection" became an unmanageable mess, so I decided to take some time to sand each fragment down into powder, and now I have a 12 oz cup of the powder. The problem is, now I have the cup of powder just sitting there, and I can't help but wonder if something can be done with it. I thought it would be worth trying to blend portions of the powder with some fresh putty (hoping to increase the mass of the putty), but this was hardly worthwhile as it made the putty become less tacky. SO, now I've come here in the...[See More]

A common trick in model building is to use powder mixed with super glue as a filler for gaps

Mix it in paint and use it for textured surfaces in your display dioramas ( like streets or concrete walls )

   [Edit]
Hey guys, 1st time posting. Thanks in advance for any help. I got this Spidey figure loose but cannot identify it so I can find the stand/wall piece that it originally came with. I need some help so I can display it properly. I cannot find any markings on the figure and it has no articulation. Thanks,

Kyle

That Spiderman is from a Marvel Select(?) Black Cat figure. The base had a wood looking floor and a wall piece with an opening window that was a blue interior wall on one side and a brick wall on the outside. Spidey was made to cling to the brick and "peek" thru the window as if he was watching the Black Cat. It also came with a safe that opened and contained some items for the Black Cat to steal... files, fake stacks of money and a necklace... iirc

If you're going to use the scrap arm idea you can strengthen it by drilling a hole in each end then gluing a rod inside the arms when you put them together.

Saw off under the elbow joint
Insert a connecting rod
Sculpt over
Voila

You might be able to take a scrap arm from another figure and glue it onto the elbow joint. That would cause a little issue with articulation, though.

Toy Biz disassembly in Custom Workstation by YaniSenpai

   [Edit]
I've only worked with Marvel Legends before, but I recently bought a Toybiz LOTR Eowyn (sword slashing) for a custom. How different is the assembly of figures like this from Marvel Legends? Will my usual method of hairdryer work?...[See More]

Hmm. Thank you. I've decided to just paint it as is, even though that'll be a bit more difficult.

Heat might work on some parts like the arms and legs, but the torso may be hard plastic, especially if it has an action feature. All the LOTR figs I worked with had hard torsos, basically like the male Marvel Legends figs.
