Mariko is the daughter of Yakuza crimelord Shingen Yashida. She met Wolverine when he had a mission in Japan and they became an item. When Logan killed her father, Mariko understood that Logan did what he had to do, and she took leadership of the Yashida clan, trying to restore its honor. However, years later she was killed by the Hand.
