John Lynch was the leader of a military team codenamed Team 7, until their superior Miles Craven set them up to be exposed to the Gen-Factor that gave them powers. Lynch remained under Craven's orders in exchange for the rest of Team 7 not to be pursued and used as guinea pigs, but he went rogue years later to save his former teammates' children, who became Gen 13.
