Before achieving worldwide notoriety as wrestling’s most lovable “Country Boy”, Jim Morris wrestled as a biker character in the Memphis area under the name "Harley Davidson". During this time, he formed a tag-team partnership with Roger Smith (AKA “Dirty Rhodes”) and grew steadily in popularity.
In 1984, Morris appeared in the WWF as a wrestling fan known as "Big Jim", who routinely sat in the front row of live events and eventually decided to try his hand at wrestling himself. Jim was seen on WWF programming training and wrestling tag-team matches with Hulk Hogan, until he had his first high-profile singles match against Rene Goulet at “The War to Settle the Score” event in 1985.
Hillbilly Jim was a fan-favorite, appearing regularly in WWF matches through the latter part of the decade, until his final match in 1990. He would then go on to become the manager of Henry O. and Phineas Godwinn in the mid-90’s, leading them to a tag-team title victory. He was officially inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2018.
