Tatsu was a woman loved by two brothers, Maseo and Takeo Yamashiro, and she chose and married Maseo. A jealous Takeo joined the Yakuza and got the mystical Soultaker sword, which he used to kill Maseo and imprison his soul. Tatsu took the Soultaker and trained as a samurai, becoming the superheroine Katana.
