After the first wave or so of Ninja Turtles figures, Playmates looked into other ways to do the four brothers and occasionally other characters. Kicking off a plethora of quirky turtle variants was the "Disguised Turtles" series, which gave each of the four brothers a different costume. In Leonardo's case, the level-headed Turtle leader became an honorable samurai. Comparing the original Playmates figure to Super7's newer "Ultimate" version, it can be noted that not much has changed, except for the head. The expression looks better than the original figure, with a less awkward-looking mouth, and the eyes aren't as narrow.
