This version of Kirk is supposed to be from when he fought the Gorn Captain. At least from the stand point of his uniform and most of the accessories that relate to that time period. Here again, DST has included an accessory (the rifle) that is not episode specific. One could argue that it gives added versatility for use for the fight scene from the 2nd Pilot, Where No Man Has Gone Before. Except that the uniform is wrong. Why include this accessory when they could have included the make shift cannon from the Gorn episode is something I don't get, but hey if you don't own the boxed Exclusive Premiere Edition Kirk, then this is nice to have so I guess it still works. One last note, if you have the Kirk and Gorn 2pck, then you get the same figures but not the rifle. I guess that makes buying the individual carded figures just a little more sweet.
